Bareroots patterns was started by me, Barri Sue Gaudet. The first pattern was designed in 1998 and sold in a local quilt shop. The patterns started out little bitty embroidery "what nots" on tea-dyed muslins. The designs eventually grew into larger projects and Bareroots also spread into more shops. I am proud to say Bareroots has been all over the world and has given me amazing experiences, encouraging words and the best of friends.
I have always enjoyed drawing and sewing. I like getting an idea and throwing bits and pieces around in the sewing room until eventually a new design emerges! Pressing open "right sides together" to see the combination. Sewing rows together watching your project grow in size. Pinning an appliqué, stitching it down and seeing the layers come alive. Tracing a design onto a blank square. Putting needle and floss into the fabric and watching the color design emerge. It is wonderful to have a sew day and I hope these projects give you many of them.
I live and sew in a little town named June Lake, CA. It is in the Sierra Nevada Mountains very near to Yosemite and many other natural wonders. I sew here, hike here, knit here, babysit my granddaughter Harlin here, cuddle my cat Onion here, and link to you from here. I am so happy to have found this corner of earth and have loved living here for the past 23 years.
I opened my own little sewing/knit shop called, Sierra Cottons & Wools. It is located in Bishop, CA and it is my second favorite place to be. It is a fun shop filled with quilting cottons, flosses, yarns, and felted wools. I have done some special designs inspired by my love of the mountains. I invite you to visit the shop online or in person. www.sierracottonswools.com
I will keep you posted on new designs, new adventures and new trends in the sewing and embroidery world!
I am grateful you are here, visiting this site and hope you will love the designs I present to you.
Happy Stitching,
Barri Sue Gaudet
